A king went wandering in a forest. He was very thirsty also. He saw an old man near a field of sugarcane. He asked for water to drink. Old man plucked two sugarcanes, put them in crusher and filled a bowl with juice. King became extremely pleased to drink this juice. He asked the old man-“Is there any tax on sugarcane?” Old man replied “No, no, our king is very considerate. Why will he tax us ?” King started thinking that there must be some tax on such a sweet thing. He mentally considered on this point and finally decided to tax sugarcane.

Before leaving the place, king asked the old man-“Please give me one more bowl of sugarcane juice.” Old man again plucked two sugarcanes but this time bowl was not filled with juice. King was surprised and asked-“What is this? Why the bowl is not filled this time?”

Old man was farsighted. He said “Seems that our king had some bad intentions. Otherwise,, this would not have happened.”

King repented at heart. He thought that if king’s intentions are so effective then the intentions and conduct of spiritual and intellectual persons must be having deep effect on society.

Society is effected by good or bad intentions of its people.
