A farmer Jalaram lived in village Veerpur (Gujrat). Whatever was produced in his fields was used to feed poor and helpless persons and also Sant-Mahatmas. He used to work in the fields while his wife cooked food for all. There was always an unending chain of persons coming to his house for food. They had no liability of maintaining children.

Once God came to their house in the form of a Sadhu to test their compassion and reverence and said-“My bedding is to be carried to the next village. Please arrange for it.” Jalaram was not in a position to hire a labourer. So his wife took the bedding on her head and went with the Sadhu. Now Jalaram worked in his fields for half day and cooked food in the remaining time.

God had tested them. After some distance, Sadhu gave a small bag to his wife and disappeared. Back to her home, she hanged the bag on a peg in the room. That was Annapurna bag and as such, there was never any scarcity of food from that room. Even today, thousands of persons visit Veerpur village to get sacred food of this Annapurna bag. Food grains in the store never end. Bapa Jalaram’s bag is still there to feed all.

One, who serves and helps others is always blessed by God.
