Chanakya was born in Magadh during Gupta period of history. He was very studious and respected his mother too much. One day, his mother was weeping. On enquiry she told “Your two front teeth indicate that one day you will become a great scholar and then you will forget me.” Chanakya smiled and went out. He soon returned with both front teeth broken and said “Now see, that indication has been destroyed and I will remain in your service forever. If you will permit, I will serve the country also.”

Later, Chanakya went to Takchashila and studied there for 24 years. On return, he started a school at Magadh which produced many brilliant students. Those days, king Nand of Magadh was very cruel and atrocious. Yunan was also at war with Magadh. Chanakya selected a talented youth Chandragupta and with him toured south and Punjab. He collected an army and defeated all the enemies. On return, he also dethroned Nand and coronated Chandragupta as the emperor. He himself devoted his time in spreading education and spiritual morality. Throughout his life, he confronted illegality and immorality.

Great enlightened intellectuals always keep themselves busy on social service without craving for any honour. Courageous Chanakya was such an idealperson.
