In 1910, a 16-year old youth was traveling in a train in Germany. He could not buy a ticket since he did not have the money for it. On seeing the ticket examiner, he tried to hide beneath a seat. But he could not escape from the eyes of the examiner and was asked to produce the ticket. He did not have the ticket. He picked a piece of newspaper lying there and mentally resolved that it was the ticket and gave it to the ticket collector. He kept repeating in his mind beseeching God – “Let that piece of paper appear as the ticket to the collector.” His astonishment knew no bounds when the ticket collector returned the ticket and admonished him for acting stupidly by trying to hide when he possessed a valid ticket.
A Russian parapsychologist Wolf Messing mentioned this anecdote in his book titled ‘About Myself’ and wrote that – ‘My life was completely transformed after that day. Until then, I used to feel helpless, incapable and foolish about myself. But after that incident, I developed a confidence that there is an immense power latent within me which can be awakened and enhanced. I began to direct my efforts in that direction and have been successful in them too.’
Messing became world famous between 1910-1950. His unique power of resolve was tested and analysed in the presence of specialists and scientists. A mentally-powerful person like Stalin also began to fear Messing. Overcome by fear, Stalin got Messing arrested. Stalin did not believe about the capabilities of Messing as told by others. He tested Messing himself. He asked him to exhibit his capability in front of him, to which Messing readily agreed.
Stalin gave out the order thus – ‘You will be released from a closed room at two O’clock tomorrow. A person will accompany you to a big bank in Moscow. You will have to make the cashier withdraw one lakh rupees from the bank and get it. You are not allowed to use any weapon. You have to do this by mere talking.’
The next day, the bank was surrounded by soldiers. Two people armed with pistols followed Messing in disguise so that he could not play any kind of tricks to deceive them. He was made to stand in front of the treasurer. Messing removed a blank piece of paper from his pocket and looked at it intently. He then gave the paper to the treasurer. Treasurer looked at the paper closely and ascertained that it was a cheque prepared with correct details. He took the cheque and gave one lakh rupees to Messing. Messing took the money and handed it over to Stalin. After listening to the details of the entire episode, Stalin’s astonishment knew no bounds.
This did not completely convince Stalin about Messing’s special power of resolve. On the other hand, Messing went back to the treasurer along with the money and explained about the entire episode. When the treasurer looked at the paper that had previously appeared as cheque, he was astonished to see that it now appeared as nothing but A blank paper. Returning the money to the treasurer, Messing said – ‘Sir, please forgive me. This was just a small experiment on the power of resolve. I came to return the money so that you do not get unduly punished for this.’ The clerk was so stunned by this revelation that he suffered from a heart attack and was ill for a long time.
Even then Stalin was not satisfied. He gave a second order to Messing to get out of a completely guarded room and meet him at 12 in the night. It was normal that Stalin was always surrounded by high security, but that day it was further tightened so that Messing could never get out of his room and meet Stalin. In spite of all these precautions, Messing presented himself with a smile in front of Stalin at the appointed time. Stalin could not believe his eyes, but he could not refuse something that was happening right in front of his eyes. In a voice that betrayed fear, he asked Messing – ‘How did you achieve this impossible task? What is the power that you have used? Tell me in detail.’
Messing told – “This is nothing but a small miracle of the power of resolve. All that I have done is that I focused my mind on one particular thought and goal. After that I came and spelt out an order in high sounding voice – ‘I am Veriya.’ (It is known that during those times Veriya was next highest authority after Stalin in Russian army.)
“The moment I expressed my wish to meet you, all the soldiers in front line gave me a room number. After reaching there, I again gave my identity as before. Security personnel then pointed me towards a room in another direction. There was a band of armed personnel near that room. On hearing the name of General Veriya and on seeing him directly in front of them, they saluted cordially and gave directions to move further. After passing through seven such security levels, I came to know that you are in this room. Just like during the previous occasions, I gave the same identity and managed to enter the room.”
It was through Messing that Stalin got to know about the hitherto unknown power latent in the body that is more powerful than any of the physical weapons. Using this power, impossible tasks could also be achieved. To examine the extrasensory power of Messing, he appointed a psychologist named ‘Namor’, who was one of the giants in psychology during those times. He observed and studied Messing for a long time. Finally, he declared that the sub-conscious power of the mind is more powerful in comparison to the conscious mind. One could accomplish both good and evil deeds by enhancing this sub-conscious power. The subconscious power in Messing was immensely awakened and it was using this power that he could hypnotize anybody and achieve impossible tasks. Stalin was left astounded.
In reality, this entire miracle is that of the power of resolve. Psychologists stimulate a small part of this power and do innumerable experiments based on it. These days, a new method of treatment has emerged based on hypnosis. Psychologists have also been experimenting with this for mental development of a child. Use of willpower is also embedded in the process of thought transmission. We get to see a tiny aspect of its capability in our daily life. There are many people who influence others with their thoughts and achieve seemingly impossible results. They become successful in moulding others according to their wishes. This proves that they possess far more power of resolve than those they are influencing. Anyone can attain this power through sadhana.
